Chef Jason Hook: H2O Kitchen

Last Updated: February 8, 2021//Categories: Featured Chefs//

Jason Hook founded H2O Kitchen, a private dining, catering and consulting company, in January 2014. The company’s unusual name traces back to the place where the concept was born: a waterfall at Powder Valley Inn in Zionsville PA.

H2O Kitchen is a mobile business model. For example, Jason can be found managing a cooking demo at Googleworks Center for the Arts in Reading or conducting a multi-course demo-lecture-tasting dinner at Artisan Wine and Cheese Cellars in Bethlehem. He also conducts restaurant consulting for clients around the country and directs food styling for exquisite photo shoots. Finally, Jason caters dinners for corporate events, weddings and reunions and even prepares gourmet meals in private homes. Jason truly lives an artful life!

Jason was born in Reading PA and raised in nearby Sinking Spring. He showed an early interest in painting and the fine arts, but life had other plans for expressing his artistic talents. As a cash-starved teenager, Jason started working at the “Inn at Reading” where he first learned to love the creativity involved with cooking. Jason subsequently enrolled in the culinary arts program at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, graduating in 1998.

Following graduation, Jason moved to New York City where he first worked under Alain Ducasse at the “Essex House”. During his later stint at Manhattan’s “Four Seasons Hotel”, Jason was sent to their sister hotel in Paris, “Georges Le Cinq”. Jason also worked under other world-class chefs Philippe Legendre and Jean-Georges where he gained a classic French culinary foundation. Jason believes that being a great chef is a lifetime commitment with a relentless dedication to the craft. He learns something new on a daily basis, especially from reading classic cookbooks which are great source of inspiration.

Jason enjoys any meal with his son, Braydon and his family. His love of travel has taken him to 17 countries in just this past year! Jason especially loves Jurgielewicz duck saying “Jurgielewicz duck is nothing short of exceptional”. Jason has known Dr. Joe Jurgielewicz and the Jurgielewicz family for 15 years and is impressed by both their products and their family company values.

H2O Kitchen offers progressive American cuisine with French and Asian influences.
